Protein, I think is a very hyped word. We are told that our body requires protein. Whether it's for building muscles or losing weight, our body needs it. But what exactly it is, and how much do we need it?
# What is Protein?
Protein is one of three primary macronutrients (the others being carbohydrate and fat). Proteins are large biomolecules and macromolecules that are comprised of one or more long chains of amino acid residues. Proteins perform a vast array of functions within organisms, including catalyzing metabolic reactions, DNA replication, responding to stimuli, providing structure to cells and organisms, and transporting molecules from one location to another.

# Sources of Protein
# Protein Requirement
Not getting enough protein in your diet can lead to health issues. For example, tissue can break down and lead to muscle loss.
But more isn’t necessarily better. While it can help build muscle, your body may store the excess as fat if you take in too much.
As you can see, growth states, such as infancy, childhood, and pregnancy, require a higher protein intake.
*Note that ideal body weight should be used to calculate protein requirement, not actual weight for overweight individuals.

# Protein Supplements
The required amount of protein is often not fulfilled by natural food. Most people can't get enough protein from their diet, therefore, to solve this problem, we can take protein Supplements. Protein is an important nutrient that we can't live without. Every cell in our body contains protein. We use it to build and repair tissues.
Protein can be also taken in the form of supplements – to help with gaining muscle, losing weight, and optimizing their workouts by improving performance and recovery.
